The book I read this week is the Anansi Boys. The story is about Charles found out his father is an
incarnation of African spider god after his father died. Then he has to fight
his “brother” and deal with other African gods. It is kind of surprising for me
since I thought the protagonist will fight his brother at the end is the “boss”
is actually the tiger god.
There are lots of
entertainment works today about heroes and or people with super power. The
Anansi Boys is kind of new since it actually relate to African god instead of
other more “popular” gods that may appears in other works. Therefore, I don't really
know anything about these African gods. However, the “incarnation” of African
spider gods appears in America and live as an normal person who has kids, wife
and die because of heart attack when singing to someone in the bar. This is a
pretty big reinvent.
