week 14 respond

The set up in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is really interesting since it imaged earth as a giant computer for calculation answers for life, universe and everything else. At 5 minutes before the calculation ends, the “catastrophe” happened and earth is destroyed. The protagonist happened to be the last human being left on the earth that could be rescued. He then meets lot of aliens with funny names like “Ford Perfect”. At the end, one of the aliens try to get the information of calculation out from the protagonist’s brain. Arthur managed to escape after.

One part of the ideas in the story I think interesting is aliens have the same philosophy questions as us. They also eager to know the answer of question such as where they came from and what is the meaning of life. Douglas Adams imaged a universe that lives form try to figure those question by using technology. This might happen in our future and I am also eager to see how the development of Artificial intelligence could help solve the problem like this.
